Some of our top chefs are inviting their mums into the kitchen at this hot new long lunch series.

Colombo Social, social enterprise Plate It Forward’s Sri Lankan restaurant, is adding a 10-course set menu lunch experience to its monthly line-up. On the last Saturday of every month, starting with June 29, Shaun Christie-David (Plate It Forward’s founder) is getting in the kitchen with his mum Shiranie Christie-David, and inviting another chef and their ma too.

First up is Merivale exec chef Dan Hong and his mum Angie Hong. The dishes will showcase flavours from Sri Lanka and Vietnam. The two pairs will be cooking up a midday feast – think dal sandwiches, empanadas spiced with the flavours of Sri Lanka, cheeseburger pan rolls, fresh rice paper rolls and green papaya salad.
