Volunteering With PlateitForward

We are so grateful for you taking the time to volunteer with us and on behalf of the thousands of people who will enjoy the fruits of your labour thank you.

Keeping our communities safe is of the utmost importance as our customers and staff are often from vulnerable communities.

Before volunteering, we have a few Food Health & Safety and Working with Vulnerable Community Member processes to read and agree to. Once done you are ready to create change.

Thanks again and we look forward to seeing you soon.

What COVID-Safe procedures do you follow?

We adhere to all current NSW Health Guidelines and legislation at the time and monitor closely before every volunteering opportunity. QR Code Check-ins, masks and gloves at all times and socially distancing is mandatory. While we are an essential service and do have exemptions we always keep our customers, many of whom are from vulnerable communities, at the forefront of everything we do and keeping them safe is a huge thing we factor in.

What do I do if I feel unwell?

While we value your generosity in time and support if you are feeling unwell we ask you to please stay at home and get tested.

Do I need to be vaccinated?

If you are travelling from an LGA of concern it is mandated to be vaccinated and proof of this is required. For the sake of our communities and other volunteers, we strongly recommend all volunteers are vaccinated. Should you not be vaccinated please inform us and we may have other volunteering opportunities available.

What will I be doing?

There will be a combination of packing the meals with our chefs, labelling meals and even using some cool gadgets to pack meals for families. There will be no heavy lifting or cooking on the day.

How long will I need to allocate?

You will be given a two-hour window so we won’t work you too hard.

What do I need to wear?

Closed shoes are a must. We will provide masks, gloves and aprons.

Can I choose the playlist?

Not at all. This perhaps might be the most important part of the day!
